The State Flag

The Kansas State Flag was created by the legislature in 1927. The word Kansas was added in 1961. The state seal without it's border is the centerpiece. The state flower and a bar of blue and gold are found above the seal. The bar represents the Louisiana purchase of which Kansas was a part.
